House gutted by Craigslist

April 5th, 2007

A house in Tacoma WA was mostly dismantled this past weekend, thanks to a craigslist ad inviting people to come to the property and take anything they want.

Unfortunately, the home owner did not place the ad.  It appears that someone, perhaps with a grudge against the owner posted the ad.  The homeowner, who recently evicted a tenant from the house, is devastated by the total destruction.

This was the lead story last night on Seattle’s 11 o’clock news on KING-TV. The story was also covered by KGW TV down in Oregon.

From the story:

From the light fixtures to the hot water heater, everything is gone - including the kitchen sink.

Her neighbors later reported seeing strangers hauling stuff away from her home, seemingly looking for salvage materia.
