GOP activist held in sex-predator sting

December 1st, 2006

What is it with the GOP?

A Seattle political activist was arrested on November 29, 2006 for soliciting sex online with a 13-year-old girl.  Upon arriving to meet her at a Capitol Hill neighborhood video store, he was surprised to discover that she was not 13, but a police officer.
From the Seattle Times article:

Larry Corrigan, a well-known activist in local Republican politics as a backer of U.S. Rep. Dave Reichert and King County Prosecuting Attorney Norm Maleng, was arrested Wednesday in an Internet sting for allegedly trying to arrange sex with a 13-year-old girl.

Corrigan was the director of financial operations at the prosecutor’s office for more than 25 years and was deputy treasurer in Reichert’s 1997 and 2001 runs for King County sheriff. He was also a supporter without an official role in Reichert’s congressional campaigns.

It’s like a big 5 step rehab club.

Step 1. Deny - Deny you have a problem.
Step 2. Assert - Assert you have a solution.
Step 3. Work - Work tirelessly to eliminate the problem in others.
Step 4. Accuse - Accuse your opponents of supporting the problem.
Step 5. Engage - Secretly engage in the problematic activity to your heart’s content under the unimpeachable cloak of righteousness that surrounds you.

But watch out for that tricky sixth step!

Step 6. Get Caught - Get caught in hypocritical situations, either by being arrested or outed by your fellow “sinners”.

  1. No trackbacks yet.
