Seattle Named Most Literate City in 2009

December 22nd, 2009

Dr. John Miller of Central Connecticut State University has named Seattle the most literate city in his 2009 study of major U.S. cities.

most literate cities chart

Seattle has placed in the top two for the past five years.

You don’t see your city on the list?  You can go here for the complete list.  If you live in El Paso, scroll to the bottom.

Check out the links on the main site for an overview of the study, the methodology used to rank the cities, and how they ranked in different categories like Number of Booksellers, Education, Internet, Libraries, Newspapers (We Seattleites have but one major paper now), and Publications.

Congratulations Seattleites!  We have another thing we can add to the list of what make us snobby elitist liberals.
