Mummy vacations in seaside town for six years

May 15th, 2007

I previously posted about a mummy watching T.V. nonstop for over a year, but this mummy has really pushed the limits of leisure and good taste.

First, the mummy vacationed in her home in the seaside town of Roses, Spain for over 6 years.  To make matters worse, she stopped making house payments at the start of her vacation.

While I certainly understand that mummy’s are notoriously bad at financial matters and even basic math, not paying a house payment for 6 years is really pushing the bounds of common decency.

Even after her house was repossessed and sold at auction, she decided to keep her vacation going.  She could have gone anywhere but in a show of defiance, she decided to become a squatter and remained in the vacation home she loved so much.

The new owner was stunned to discover that the same mummy who had vacationed by the sea for over 6 years was now squatting in his house and just “sitting on the sofa“.  According to Reuters the home was never inspected before or after the repossession and thus the squatter was not discovered by the bank.

Dishonest W

August 9th, 2005

Late last week the latest poll of Bush’s approval ratings was released. Based on the numbers I’d say that the public is finally beginning to recognize him for the dishonest man that he really is.

Here are few highlights from the poll:

Bush’s overall job approval was at 42 percent, with 55 percent disapproving.

The portion of people who view his confidence as arrogance has increased from 49 percent in January to 56 percent now.

Approval of Bush’s handling of Iraq, which had been hovering in the low- to mid-40s most of the year, dipped to 38 percent.

The portion of people who consider Bush honest has dropped slightly from 53% in January to 48 percent.

When public opinion gets that bad, what is one to do? Why go on vacation of course! Yes Bush had run off to his Crawford ranch a few days before the poll results hit the media. According to this Washington Post article, he spends a lot of time there:

President Bush is getting the kind of break most Americans can only dream of — nearly five weeks away from the office, loaded with vacation time.

How very “French” of him…

The president departed Tuesday for his longest stretch yet away from the White House, arriving at his Crawford ranch in the evening for a stretch of clearing brush, visiting with family and friends, and tending to some outside-the-Beltway politics. By historical standards, it is the longest presidential retreat in at least 36 years.

This we get from the WAR President during a time of WAR?

The August getaway is Bush’s 49th trip to his cherished ranch since taking office and the 319th day that Bush has spent, entirely or partially, in Crawford — nearly 20 percent of his presidency to date, according to Mark Knoller, a CBS Radio reporter known for keeping better records of the president’s travel than the White House itself. Weekends and holidays at Camp David or at his parents’ compound in Kennebunkport, Maine, bump up the proportion of Bush’s time away from Washington even further.

Early on in Bush’s campaign for president, he and his supporters said that Bush would try and run the government like a business. He’d be a strong executive, he’d be more efficient, he’d hold people accountable (Ha!) and he’d uh… make a profit?

So, if you were reviewing candidates for a job at your firm and you did your due diligence checking references and found that the last company he worked for was called Mendacity, Inc., and that over half of the people you contacted thought he was dishonest and arrogant, and that he demanded lengthy vacations, and that the word on the street was he botched his most important assignment ever (and didn’t give damn,) would you hire him?

How in the hell did this guy get re-elected?
